Challenge Week 23

“Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marvelled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus….And they called them, and commanded them not to speak at all nor teach in the name of Jesus. But Peter and John answered and said unto them, Whether it be right in the sight of God to hearken unto you more than unto God, judge ye. For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard.” ~ Acts 4:13 & 18-20

Despite the opposition, Peter and John refused to give up telling others about Jesus – the only Way to be reconciled to God. We can be just as earnest and bold as Peter and John were – because we too have seen and heard and know God, and that there is no salvation in any other than Jesus Christ.

John Witherspoon, a Signer of the Declaration of Independence said:

“I shall now conclude my discourse by preaching this Savior to all who hear me, and entreating you in the most earnest manner to believe in Jesus Christ; for “there is no salvation in any other”. . . . [I]f you are not reconciled to God through Jesus Christ, if you are not clothed with the spotless robe of His righteousness, you must forever perish.”

People around us are perishing, but we have the news of how they can be reconciled!

“And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to Himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation; To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto Himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation. Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us:; we pray you in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God.” ~ 2 Cor. 5:18-20

May we also entreat others in the most earnest manner, and do nothing less but speak the things which we have seen and heard.

“The other day when I was thrift shopping at a picture frame shelf, the Lord prompted me to give a tract to the lady next to me; As I was waiting for the right opportunity, a man that was with her came to look through the frames as well, he came across one with a painting of Jesus and showing it to her said “Jesus” (In Spanish, although they were for sure not Spanish.) She replied “We definitely don’t need that right now.” and they said a few other things on whether or not to get that frame because they didn’t want the picture it came with. Before leaving I went back over to give her a gospel tract, which she nicely accepted. But as I thought over it later, it seems a perfect opportunity and I am saddened that it didn’t come to my mind to actually start a conversation and explain the Good News of Jesus with her verbally.
Please pray for the Lord to work through that encounter and gospel tract, that her heart would be opened to Him and she would be saved. And that the Lord would bring our paths to cross again for the opportunity to share more with her. Thank you!! : )
I also pray for each of us that we would be Spirit-led, bold, and quick to share the Gospel always and whenever possible without hesitation!”
