Challenge Week 12

“He is not here: for he is risen, as He said. … And they departed quickly from the sepulcher with fear and great joy; and did run to bring his disciples word.” ~ Matt. 28:6 & 8

The women sought Jesus, and He showed Himself to them. He rose as He said. They obeyed and left running with fear and great joy. Jesus gives great joy! He met them, they held Him by the feet and worshiped Him. He told them “Be not afraid: go tell my brethren…”  v.10

Mary and Mary Magdalene believed. They went with joy, for Jesus had told them to go and tell his disciples.

As I think of them going, running rather, to tell the disciples as Jesus commanded them, they worshiped Him and they went with great joy! I don’t think that the disciples’ response would have mattered very much to them. Even if/when the disciples believed them not, I’m sure they would have earnestly told and tried to persuade, but they (Mary and Mary Magdalene) had seen Jesus. They knew and rejoiced that their message was from Him and He said “go” so they went. They were going in obedience to Jesus and that was what mattered. Their “assignment” was to tell the disciples how to meet Jesus. And they did. Without hesitation they obeyed Jesus.

And so it is when Jesus has told us/me to go. I will go. And I will go with great joy and assurance, because my Jesus is alive and He has bid Me “Go.” He will be with me, “Alway, even unto the end of the world.” And I go in obedience, because He has sent me. And, my Master has all power and authority in all the heaven and earth! I have NOTHING to fear!

“And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.” ~ Matthew 28:18-20
