Why did Jesus say, “Go ye therefore…?” Many have listed purposes of the Great Commission, but the basis of the Great Commission is really something! Here’s what we read in the previous verse:
“And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.” We have authority and power in Jesus’ Name, and with Jesus living in us!! It’s a co-mission.
God is boldly advancing His Love, which is the greatest weapon. He has already won the battle, destroying the works of the Devil (1 John 3:8b)! He continues to proclaim liberty to the captives, restore sight to the blind, and preach deliverance and the opening of the prison to them that are bound. (See Isaiah 61:1 and Luke 4:18.)
Further, while on earth, Jesus said, “I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.” (John 9:4.)
Did you know that God does His part, of drawing sinners to Himself, THROUGH you and me?
We, as the Body of Christ on earth, have the marvellous privilege of continuing His mission while it is still day—while there is a chance for people to repent and trust Jesus—while there is hope! Let’s do it WITH Jesus, and by His authority, as He has commissioned us as His Body here on earth!
“When we went grocery shopping this week two of my sisters and I were able to hand out tracts to quite a few of the people there. One lady, after thanking my sister came over to me a little later and said how much it made her day and thanked us for handing them out. Another lady said “I really needed this today! Thank you so much!” those were a few of the responses and it was a very blessed trip, praise the Lord!! You can’t fail in sharing His word and His love with others, even if they are already believers! It’s such a privilege to be ambassadors for Christ! And thank you so much to everyone who was praying for us!! : )”
