“And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd. Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again. No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father.” ~ John 10:16-18
Jesus willingly laid down His life to give us freedom from our sin. Our founding fathers were willing to put their lives on the line to bring us freedom in this nation. Are we willing to give our lives for Jesus, telling those around us of the freedom that God has to give them?
There are still so many sheep to be brought into His fold, and Jesus laid down His life for them as much as He did it for us. Thankfully we do not have to do it in our own power – Jesus, who had the power to lay down His life for us, and then to take it up again, has given us His power “And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations…” (Matt. 28:18 & 19a)
As long as we are alive, we still have time to spread God’s Word and the gospel with others. Especially while we still enjoy freedoms in this country that was founded 250 years ago!
John Quincy Adams warned: “Posterity—you will never know how much it has cost my generation to preserve your freedom. I hope you will make good use of it.”
Let us make the best use of our preserved freedom by sharing the gospel with everyone we can!
“Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of His might.” (Eph 6:10)
Quote taken from America’s God and Country: Encyclopedia of Quotations by William J. Federer page 20
“Last time we went grocery shopping my brother and I returned to one of the isles to get more of something we needed and we passed an older man wearing a hat that said U.S. Army(?) or another branch of the military (I can’t remember).
I thanked him for his service and gave him a patriot million tract. He really liked it, and he was very grateful for the tract and also for the interaction and recognition! Later I also saw him a few times walking by with the tract in his hand. : ) Praise the Lord!
It was encouraging to be able to show the love of Christ and talk with a man who seemed blessed just by someone ‘taking the time’ to care! Even a smile can really brighten someone’s day!”
